Wylie City Council is expected to continue discussions later this month on the future of the historic Stonehaven House, as questions remain over how best to preserve the century-old home and who should ultimately be responsible for its restoration and use.

Council first heard competing proposals for the Stonehaven House during a work session in December but took no action. The issue was also discussed in executive session at the Jan. 13 City Council meeting and is scheduled to return for discussion at the Tuesday, Jan. 27, meeting.

Built in 1912 by local inventor and farmer William E. Stone, the Stonehaven House is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The structure was moved approximately 400 feet from its original site in 2016 to avoid demolition and to accommodate the widening of Alanis Drive, while remaining on original Stone family acreage to retain its landmark designation.
