After finishing the first half of District 9-6A play with an unblemished 8-0 record, the Wylie Lady Pirates began the second half just like they did the first half — winning in dominating fashion.
The Lady Pirates got out to a fast start Tuesday, taking a 22-4 lead at the end of the first quarter — a lead that they never relinquished in a 74-35 triumph over North Garland at the Montgomery Center.
Defensively, the Lady Pirates held the Lady Raiders to less than 10 points in three of the four quarters that were played, and to just 17 during the first half.
Junior Shamya Johnson and freshman Sade Mathes each had 12 points to pace a balanced scoring attack for Wylie, followed by 10 from junior Skylar Harvey and nine by sophomore Aubrey Green.
Wylie improved to 9-0 in district play, 17-6 overall.
