The Wylie Lady Pirates scored early and often in an 83-24 District 9-6A rout of Naaman Forest last Friday at the Montgomery Center.
Sade Mathes stole the opening tip, drove the length of the court and dropped in an uncontested layup four seconds into the game for a 2-0 lead, and the rout was on from there.
Naaman Forest called a timeout with the score 9-0 in favor of the Lady Pirates with 6:55 left in the first quarter, but nothing could stop Wylie’s scoring onslaught.
It was 32-6 after the first quarter and 52-12 at halftime, allowing Wylie to freely mix and match its lineup in the second half for what will surely be more competitive district games in the future.
