A 12-year-old student at McMillan Junior High School was taken into custody Thursday afternoon, Dec. 4, after reportedly making threats toward a school administrator and attempting to grab a police officer’s weapon, according to the Wylie Police Department.
Police said the incident occurred around 2 p.m. Dec. 4, when a school resource officer was called to an administrator’s office regarding a threatening student. During the investigation, officials said the student continued to make verbal threats toward the administrator and lunged multiple times toward the officer’s holstered gun.
The student was restrained and arrested on charges of terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury and taking or attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer. Because the student is a minor, police are not releasing his name.
Police emphasized that all threats against schools and staff will be handled seriously. They said they continue to work alongside Wylie ISD officials in investigating both direct and perceived threats to district campuses.
