Seven days after completing the first 10–0 regular season in program history, Wylie East saw its undefeated run come to an abrupt end in a 52–10 loss to Rockwall-Heath last Friday at Wylie ISD Stadium.
Junior running back Carter Zahm, junior quarterback Prosper Neal, and senior wide receiver Shawn Gary — the Hawks’ explosive three-headed attack — quickly set the tone. Neal hit Gary for 25 yards on a third-and-10 to move the ball to the Wylie East 33, and five plays later Zahm scored from two yards out for a 7–0 lead with 9:35 left in the first quarter.
It was only the beginning of a dominant night for Zahm, who finished with 157 yards and four touchdowns, including three in the first half.
Wylie East’s biggest momentum swing came midway through the second quarter. Junior quarterback Jaiden McLemore dropped a perfect fade into the hands of junior receiver Amir Porter for a 15-yard touchdown to make it 14–7.
The Raiders then recovered the ensuing onside kick at the Rockwall-Heath 45 but managed just one yard on the next three plays and were forced to punt — a missed opportunity that proved costly.
McLemore completed 7 of 17 passes for 106 yards. Jonathan Utubor led the rushing attack with 88 yards on 20 carries, while Porter finished with two catches for 58 yards.
