For the second consecutive season, the Wylie Lady Pirates are the champion of District 9-6A — only this time, they have the title all to themselves after having to split the crown with crosstown rival Wylie East last season.

The clincher was a dominant 3-0 win (25-5, 25-18, 25-15) win over North Garland on Tuesday afternoon at the Montgomery Center.

Wylie (25-12 overall, 14-0) received strong offensive performances from juniors Julia Hudgins (15 kills) and Aubrey DeGrate (11). DeGrate finished with a .500 hitting percentage, while Hudgins hit at a .448 clip.

The Lady Pirates posted 13 service aces — three each by junior Keelyn Green and senior Livian Nesbit.

Wylie was locked in defensively. The Lady Pirates posted a whopping 69 digs — 11 each from Nesbit and junior Jolene Bao, and 10 each by Hudgins and senior Mallory Kendrick.

Senior Olivia Royal dished out 18 assists.
