GARLAND – Wylie and Rowlett traded last-minute scoring drives last Friday night, but unfortunately for the Pirates, Rowlett got the last score for a 17-14 win.

Eagles quarterback Samuel Loera bowled over from the four-yard line with 47 seconds left to lead the Eagles to a dramatic win at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

Wylie took a 14-10 lead just over a minute prior on a three-yard touchdown run by junior running back Daylon Gordon.

After Loera’s score, Wylie had a chance to drive for the winning score. The Pirates advanced the ball past midfield after a pass from junior quarterback Jabriran Blake to senior wide receiver Devin Butler. However, an interception ended Wylie’s chances.

Blake completed 26 of 45 passes for 346 yards. His favorite target was Butler, who hauled in 14 receptions for 197 yards.

Rowlett improved to 2-2 in District 9-6A, 3-3 overall. Wylie falls to 3-2 in 9-6A, 3-4 overall.
