Wylie East built a 48-0 halftime lead and never looked back in earning a 55-0 win over South Garland on Thursday.
The Raiders improved to 6-0 overall, 4-0 in District 9-6A.
It didn’t take long for the Raiders’ offense to get going.
After senior Noah Janshego returned an interception inside South Garland’s 5-yard line on the third place of the game, McLemore drove Wylie East to its first points. Junior Victor Ekpo ran in from the 1 on the second play of the Raiders’ initial offensive possession to give Wylie East a 7-0 lead.
McLemore completed 8 of 13 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns.
Freshman Victor Young went 2 of 3 for 16 yards and added a team-high 130 yards rushing on 11 carries with a touchdown run.
The Raiders finished with 274 passing yards and 273 rushing yards.
The Raiders’ defense also came to play.
Wylie East held South Garland to 32 yards and one first down while forcing three turnovers.
One of those turnovers was a defensive score.
Senior Ruke Eruvwetaghware, who had two interceptions and a blocked punt the previous week in a win over Sachse, outworked a South Garland wide receiver up the left sideline and returned the ball 40 yards for a touchdown.
