Naaman Forest quarterback Ja’Ki Robinson scored on touchdown runs of three and 45 yards in the fourth quarter to break a tie and send Wylie to its first District 9-6A setback of the year, a 38-24 loss at Wylie ISD Stadium on Friday.
A Brody Perales fumble return for a touchdown less than five minutes into the game gave Naaman Forest (4-1, 3-0) an early 7-0 lead.
Wylie (3-3, 3-1) overcame a 24-14 deficit to tie the score at 24-24 on Logan Montgomery’s 41-yard field goal with 5:27 left in the fourth quarter.
The Pirates got a one-yard rushing touchdown from junior Daylon Gordon, a five-yard rushing touchdown from junior quarterback Jabriran Blake and a 40-yard touchdown reception by senior Devin Butler.
Blake completed 18 of 28 passes for 237 yards with one touchdown and added 57 rushing yards.
Naaman Forest held Wylie to 88 rushing yards and an average of 2.59 yards per tote.
The Pirates committed three turnovers compared to zero for the Rangers.
