Wylie East scored quick and often in its 47-14 win over District 9-6A rival North Garland on Friday, although North Garland made a game of it in the first half.

Jeremiah Denmark gave North Garland a 14-12 lead after he scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown with 6:33 left in the second quarter, and the Raiders led by that same score at halftime.

Wylie East flipped the script after intermission, blitzing North Garland with 35 unanswered points to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a 33-point win.

The Raiders turned to their ground game to get their offense going.

Wylie East (4-0, 2-0) got two rushing touchdowns from Jonathan Utubor (three total touchdowns) and a 43-yard rushing touchdown from Victor Ekpo.

Wylie East’s special teams also chipped in.

Kyle Jarvis recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a score and Brysan Muller returned a fumble 10 yards for a touchdown.
