The Wylie East cross country team entered last Friday’s Rock Hill 2-Mile Opener looking to continue building a good base.
The Raiders not only logged two miles of valuable race time but also turned in solid individual performances at Frontier Park in Prosper.
Isabelle Price paced the Lady Raiders, finishing 14th in the open varsity division with a time of 13 minutes, 5 seconds. Renata Saucedo followed in 25th at 13:20. Layla Talbott finished 35th with a 13:36. Alexis Schmidt took 39th with a 13:44. Amiya Runsewe captured 41st with a 13:47. Wylie East placed seventh with 154 points. Lovejoy, with 44, won the team title.
The Raider boys, meanwhile, impressed with three top 25 finishes in the elite varsity division. Kaleab Endale ran to 22ndplace with a time of 10:14, followed closely by Carter Roberts, who earned 23rd place with a time of 10:18. Kirubel Feyissa also cracked the top 25, finishing 25th with a time of 10:19. Roman Lopez took 31st with a 10:24. John Middleton clocked a time of 10:28, good for 34th place. Jaden Parish placed 41st with a 10:36. Wylie East earned a respectable fourth place showing and amassed 135 team points. Keller, with 32, won the team title.
