State Representative Candy Noble has officially announced her campaign for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives in District 89, setting up a Republican primary contest with Jeff Forrester, a businessman and former Wylie City Council member.

Noble, who was first elected in 2018 and began serving in 2019, is currently in her fourth term. In her campaign announcement, she highlighted a range of legislation she supported during the most recent legislative sessions.

“We passed, again, unprecedented property tax relief. We’ve protected innocent life and Second Amendment rights,” Noble said. “We returned the Ten Commandments and prayer back into our public schools… We secured our elections and made sure that non-citizens may never vote in Texas elections.”

Noble described herself as a “fearless leader for consistent conservative values” and emphasized her continued commitment to issues including school choice, parental rights, and public safety.

She also announced endorsements from high-profile Republican leaders, including Governor Greg Abbott and President Donald Trump.

“Candy Noble delivered win after win for her constituents,” Abbott said in a statement. “Candy’s continued leadership is vital to conservative success in Austin, which is why I wholeheartedly endorse her re-election.”

Trump added: “Based on your professionalism and patriotism… I am honored to give you, Candy Noble, my complete and total endorsement in the upcoming re-election.”

Challenging Noble for the Republican nomination is Jeff Forrester, a veteran, small business owner and longtime Wylie resident. He launched his campaign by sharply criticizing Noble’s voting record, including her support for the impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

“Candy Noble is not the ardent, fighting conservative that this district deserves,” Forrester said. “Her liberal votes earned her a career ‘F’ rating from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.”

Forrester said his campaign will focus on what he called a more responsive, grassroots approach to leadership. He pledged to prioritize property tax cuts, reduce government spending and defending individual liberties.

“This campaign is about restoring trust, protecting freedoms and putting the voice of the people—not special interests—back at the center of government,” Forrester said. “Texans are tired of being overlooked. It’s time for real representation that reflects the concerns of families, small business owners, veterans, and everyday citizens.”

Forrester served nearly a decade on the Wylie City Council, including six years as Mayor pro tem. He said that during his time in local government, he passed balanced budgets without raising property taxes. He also brings more than 20 years of experience in the private sector, including leadership roles in supply chain and procurement operations.

District 89 covers parts of Collin County, a fast-growing and reliably Republican area in North Texas. 

The March 3, 2026, primary election will determine which candidate advances to the November 3 general election. As of now, no Democratic challenger has formally entered the race.

Both candidates have launched their campaign websites and are actively fundraising ahead of the primary.
