Raiders wrestling hits the mat

by | Nov 18, 2021 | Latest, Sports

The Raiders wrestling program is ready to return to normal as they open competition this weekend.

Last year was a challenge to adapt for all wrestling teams. The season was delayed until the spring due to multiple delays because of the pandemic. The regular season opened in March and was cut in half, with Wylie East competing over five weeks.

Coach Ted Hazlewood inherits an experienced group of Wylie East wrestlers. With returning state and regional qualifiers, he hopes to build upon his success and advance more competitors to state.

“I am excited about the year,” he said. “It is great to get back to a normal season after last year being shortened. We are hoping to build on what happened last year and in previous years. Each returning wrestler knows that improvement is the key to our success.”
