Almost 200 young racers took their turns behind the wheel to zoom down a 500-inch straightaway Sunday afternoon, May 5, for the 15th annual running of the Wylie Pedal Car Race.
Wylie Downtown Merchants Association and the city of Wylie hosted the races. Title sponsor was Ballard Street Cafe.
Proceeds from the event benefit Special Olympics, which received a $1,000 check from WDMA, and downtown beautification projects.
Up for grabs for the racers were first, second and third place trophies in two age divisions, 2-3 years old and 4-5 years old. Drivers, in heats of six and seven, pedaled cars provided and decorated by Wylie businesses.
