Funeral services with full police honors were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, for David Sherrard, 37, of Wylie who was killed Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the line of duty as an officer with Richardson Police Department.
Sherrard was a 13-year veteran of the department and a member of its SWAT team.
“He exemplified the professionalism, heroism, and strong character inherent in all Richardson police officers. We are grieving and deeply hurt by this loss. We are grateful for the outpouring of support by the public and continue to ask for prayers for Officer Sherrard’s family and friends,” a statement issued by RPD declared.
The officer and his wife, Nicole, were parents of two daughters, Grace and Emily, who attend school in Wylie.
