Miss Texas Morgana Wood of Plano donated the dress off her back last week when she gave several of her pageant dresses to the Prom Closet of Wylie Independent School District.

Wood visited WISD on Wednesday, Jan. 24, to model one of her pageant gowns and make the donation.

The Prom Closet provides gently used, donated gowns to students who may not be able to afford them.

“We know that a dress can be the most expensive part of attending the prom and we want every girl to be able to attend this significant event in her young life,” Wylie ISD Family Liaison Specialist Joley Martin said. “Miss Texas gives credibility to the quality of our dresses and what the girls can really look forward to when they sign up to come shopping.”

WISD was accepting prom dress donations at the Educational Service Center, 951 S. Ballard Ave, through Wednesday, Jan. 31. Still needed are donations of ladies shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories. Cash donations for tuxedo rentals can be made online at www.wylieisd.net/promcloset.

Items may be dropped off at the Educational Service Center between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided upon request.
