Win over Forney will push Raiders into postseason

WYLIE — The Raiders had a chance last week to clinch a playoff berth.
Unfortunately, they didn’t, falling 7-0 to West Mesquite during homecoming at Wylie Stadium.
That defeat dropped Wylie East to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in District 15-5A, while the Wranglers improved to 4-1 in district play. It also means the Raiders must win this week at Forney — they fell 44-7 to district-leading Highland Park — in order to secure that postseason berth. Should that not happen, all hope rests on defeating Highland Park in the Nov. 7 regular-season finale at Wylie Stadium.
“We’ve got a big game against Forney, and at the end of the day the goal for this team is to get in the playoffs,” head coach Joe Lepsis said. “Every kid here knows that for us to get in the playoffs, we have to beat Forney. So, they better be ready to put (the West Mesquite loss) away and get ready to play a great game (against Forney).
