WYLIE — Just like their cross-town counterparts at Wylie East, the Pirates are in a win-and-their-in scenario this Friday.
In the maroon and white’s case, it takes place 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wylie Stadium against McKinney. A win over the Lions improves Wylie’s 6-6A record to 4-2, and will lock up the final playoff spot; Allen, Denton Guyer and Plano East have clinched the other three berths.
Wylie finds itself needing the victory — a loss means having to win at Allen in the Nov. 4 regular-season finale — following a 35-23 loss last Friday at Denton Guyer.
McKinney, 1-4 in district play, is coming off a 59-7 loss this past Friday to district leader Allen.
“This is huge. This is the biggest game of the year,” Wylie head coach Bill Howard said. “When you need to win to get it, it is big. We’ll be the favorite, and we need to take care of business.”
