WYLIE — Pirate football teams have a history of slow starts slow and then picking up steam as a season progresses.
Well, the maroon and white again are off to a sluggish beginning with a pair of heartbreaking defeats, first falling 37-34 to McKinney North on Aug. 26 after blowing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, and then, this past Friday, losing 34-28 at home to Hebron, a contest that ended with Wylie six yards short of a potential game winning score.
Now, the Pirates set sail Friday to Lake Highlands’ Wildcat-Ram Stadium to face a winless Wildcat team — they fell 28-24 last Friday to Lewisville — that also desires its first win of 2016.
