Basketball updates 1-30=16

Wylie East’s basketball teams kept themselves in the playoff chase Friday evening, as each defeated their Lovejoy counterparts; the former triumphed 36-28 to improve to 5-4 in the 10-5A standings, while the latter (5-6) defeated the Lady Leopards 47-45.
Wylie’s teams both lost to Prosper, with boys dropping a 50-46 decision and the girls falling 59-42. The Pirates are now 6-3 in district play, and are tied with McKinney for third and fourth place, with Wylie East in fifth. Prosper and McKinney North, each at 7-2, are tied for first in the boys’ standings.
The Lady Raiders win over Lovejoy leaves them tied with the Lady Leopards for fourth, while Wylie is in sixth place. Prosper and McKinney North (each 10-1) are tied for first, while McKinney is third at 7-4.
