Potential candidates did not exactly beat down the doors during the first week to file for May 7 city and school district elections, but a few stepped forward.
The filing period opened Jan. 20 and runs through Feb. 19. Early voting runs from April 25 through May 3.
A pair of incumbents signed up for re-election in the city of Sachse. Seeking to keep their posts are Mayor Mike Felix and Councilmember Jeff Bickerstaff, Place 6. No candidate is filed for Place 5, currently held by Cullen King.
Lovejoy Independent School District attracted a full slate of candidates but no contested races, yet. Filed for re-election are board secretary Chad Collins in Place 1 and Robbin Wells in Place 3. Newcomer Amy Smith signed up for Place 2 on the board of trustees, a place now held by Board President Ann Smith.
Incumbents Debbie Fisher, Place 5, and Kathleen Peele, Place 6, have filed for new terms on the Parker city council.
