ARLINGTON — Wylie saw its season swallowed up last Saturday afternoon by a pack of large and fast Lobos. That collection of wolves hailed from Longview, and did their damage at AT&T Stadium, handing the Pirates a 35-14 defeat in a Class 5A, Region II, Div. II semifinal.
The postseason loss ends another solid campaign for Wylie, one in which they started slowly but picked up steam as the season progressed. At one point, following a loss at Prosper, the Pirates were 2-2 in District 10-5A, but then rattled off three straight wins to capture the final playoff spot.
That was clinched in the regular-season finale, an overtime win against McKinney North; the Bulldogs would have earned the final spot with a win over Wylie.
