Wylie boys cross country advances to regionals

The Wylie boys’ cross country team took third Monday at the District 10-5A meet at McKinney’s Myers Park, good enough to earn a spot at next Monday’s Region II meet in Grand Prairie. The Pirates advanced as far as the state meet in 2014.
Ryan Lee (first in 16:33.00) led the Pirate charge that accumulated 86 points to finish behind Lovejoy (38) and McKinney North (70), and ahead of Sherman (93),  McKinney (126), Wylie East (132), Prosper (143) and Denison (212). The top-three teams advance to regionals.
After Lee, rounding out the top five for Wylie were Jeremiah Porter (17th in 17:53.00), Nick Noguez (21st in 18:08.00), Ryan Rigby (22nd in 18:11.00) and Timothy Vansaders (25th in 18:20.00).

Wylie East boys
Wesley Massey (eighth in 17:27.00) qualified as an individual (top 10 make it) for next week’s regional meet. After him, the next Raider to cross the finish line was Julian Lynch (19th in 17:58.00), followed by Andrew Spiegel (28th in 18:25.00), Matthew Acuna (35th in 18:36.00) and Josh Jaynes (42nd in 19:10.00).

Wylie East girls
Rebecca Spiegel (fourth in 20:07.00) and Makayla Marley (ninth in 20:40.00) each qualified for the regional meet as individuals. Prosper’s Allie Tayler (19:44.00) won the girls’ race. After Spiegel and Marley, the next three Lady Raiders to cross the finish line were Clairece Lopez (17th in 21:18.00), Sasha Elizondo (32nd in 22:26.00) and Haylie Hadjiev (36th in 23:21.00).
Prosper won the girls’ race (47), followed by McKinney North (49), Lovejoy (77), Wylie East (98), McKinney (113), Denison (184), Wylie (188) and Sherman (209).

Maggie Snopik (25th in 21:51.00) was the first Lady Pirate to cross the finish line, followed by Aubrey Bosse (33rd in 22:48.00), Kaitlyn Middleton (23:23.00), Terra Ekezie (24:19.00) and Jocelyn Colunga (24:20.00).
