MESQUITE — Coach Joe Lepsis said the Raiders would face a tougher test in Week 2 than they did in Week 1, and he was right.

Just six days after walloping Red Oak 49-7 to open the 2015 season, Wylie East returned to the gridiron this past week, this time against Mesquite Poteet at Hanby Stadium. After nearly three hours of play and numerous big plays, the Raiders (2-0) outlasted the Pirates 50-41.

Wylie East finishes off the non-district portion of its schedule 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Class 6A Denton Ryan.
