Wylie ISD Back-to-School Fair

The Back-to-School Fair is only for families who need assistance with school supplies for the upcoming school year. There will only be one registration date and only families who have pre-registered will be allowed to pick up supplies on the day of the fair. The preregistration date is June 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at McMillan Junior High. Documentation of one of the following is needed to qualify for supplies: free/reduced lunch, Medicaid, WIC, Lone Star, Social Security, Disability, unemployment or active military. The Back-To-School Fair will be held 8 to 10 a.m. August 8. Parent and student must attend to pick up free backpack and supplies. School uniforms and shoes will be available for secondary students as long as the supply lasts.

Farmer’s Market

The Collin County Farmer’s Market will be open from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday’s at the Murphy City Hall Complex. For a listing of vendors, go to collincountyfarmersmarket.org

Collin Theatre Center

The Collin Theatre Center announced their 2015-’16 subscription featuring three plays, a musical, and the 24-hour play festival. Presentations include “Stiff”, “The Dead Guy”, “The Drowsy Chaperone”, “The Heidi Chronicles” and the centers 24 hour play festival.

Sachse to host annual parade, fireworks display

The city is inviting all to attend the annual fireworks show and parade July 3.

The event begins at 6 p.m. and the parade is sponsored by the Sachse Parks and Recreation Department. Parade articipants should gather at 5 p.m. at the parking lot of the senior activity center in the municipal complex located at 3815 Sachse Rd.

The parade will travel down Miles Road to the Sewell Elementary School parking lot. The school is adjacent to Heritage Park. The fireworks pre-show festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. in the park and the fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m.

Sachse city office closed July 6

Sachse city offices will be closed Monday, July 6 to observe the Independence Day Holiday. Please call 972.495.2271, option 2 for a water emergency. Trash service/bulk pick up will run as normal and residents will see no interruption of service.

Due to the city observing the holiday on Monday, please note that this will push the regular City Council meeting to Tuesday, July 7.

The Sachse Public Library will be closed Saturday, July 4 and Monday, July 6.
