Wylie ISD earns top marks, welcomes new leader

by | Oct 30, 2025 | Education, Latest

The Wylie ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Deputy Superintendent Kim Spicer as the district’s new superintendent during its regular meeting Oct. 21, a session that also featured district updates and campus recognitions.

The meeting began with multiple recognitions, honoring National Merit semifinalists and commended scholars, Esports state and national finalists from Wylie High School, and ending with a confetti-filled celebration for Dodd Elementary School’s recognition as a Lone Star Ribbon School.

Trustees were then briefed on the 2024-25 School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) rating for Wylie ISD. Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Scott Roderick explained that the district had received a superior rating for both the 2024-25 and 2023-24 school years, meeting all four critical indicators.
