A Wylie East High School senior has been elected to one of the top student leadership roles in SkillsUSA, a national career and technical organization serving more than 440,000 members.
Reid Waters will serve as the national high school parliamentarian, representing students across the country while promoting education and careers in the skilled trades.
The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, was where Reid would find out if his efforts resulted in a national officer position. Additionally, Peyton Pecorino, Wylie East senior and Texas state historian, was among the delegates who reviewed the candidates’ speeches and determined who was best suited for the position.
Preparation prior to Reid’s election involved speech training and creating a campaign complete with promotional material.
