Winding up his first full term on the Wylie City Council, Keith Stephens would like to continue serving the community and is seeking election to a second term to Place 1 in May.
“I am a strong believer in servant leadership and enjoy serving my community,” the council member said. “I think it is important to use our talents and skills for the betterment of the community.”
Stephens retired after 32 years with GTE/Verizon, where he held several positions from technician, to engineer and manager of operations. He currently owns a small business in Wylie and serves as business manager for a small business in Sachse.
“Having lived in Wylie for 25 years, I feel an obligation to work with leaders in the community to make Wylie the best place to live,” Stephens said. “I have realized my initial goal of serving Wylie at a higher level and now desire to continue serving the citizens of Wylie.”
Over the years, Stephens has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, serving as chairman in 2010; was on the Wylie Independent School District Foundation Advisory board in 2010; was a member of the board of managers for Denton County 911 for eight years; was a member of the Plano Symphony Orchestra board of directors, serving as secretary in 2010 and treasurer in 2011; is on the board of Philadelphia Perpetual Care Community Cemetery; and is an active member of First Baptist Church of Wylie.
