The Sachse Chamber of Commerce held their monthly luncheon focused on the state of the school district last week. Garland ISD Superintendent Bob Morrison and Wylie ISD Superintendent David Vinson each presented updates on student population and improvements taking place in their respective districts.

Vinson addressed the increased student enrollment stating that WISD went from 14,039 students August 1 to 14,625, an increase at this time of 586 students.

“This is a lot more than we actually thought we were going to have this year,” Vinson said. “We are grateful for our trustees and the public who helped pass a $94.2 million bond last year so we can accommodate the growth.”

In a graph detailing expected growth over the next 10 years, Vinson showed that in 2024, the expected number of students is just below 18,000.
