As Plano ISD prepares for the upcoming school year, new students and parents to the district gather documentation for registration.

Students moving into the district during the summer may call their school to register before the start of the school year.

Students are required to attend school in the attendance zone in which the family resides or obtain an approved transfer.

The natural parent, legal guardian or other person having legal control under a court order must enroll the student. Any person who is not the natural parent or is not a designated guardian of the child by a court order must register with the office of Student Services, 5804 Coit Road #102, prior to enrolling the student.

The person enrolling the student must present their driver’s license or department of transportation identification card at the time of registration. A student 18 or more years of age living independently must present evidence of age and complete the necessary form in the office of Student Services prior to enrolling at the school.

If a family has not yet moved into the school district but is building or purchasing a home within the district boundaries, a Certificate of Eligibility Form must be completed and the contract for purchase must be submitted to the office of Student Services prior to enrolling.

Records necessary to enroll include an original birth certificate; current immunization record; proof of residency, natural gas or electricity bill, original lease agreement, or approved certificate of eligibility to enroll form; recent report card or withdrawal slip from previous school; social security card and a high school transcript if applicable.

Plano ISD does have an early childhood education program, which services students ages three to five. Students may enroll based on three criteria, tuition supported; prekindergarten and the preschool program for children with disabilities.

Kindergarten students must be five-years-old on or before Sept. 1 to register.

First grade students must be six-years-old on or before Sept. 1 or have already been previously enrolled in first grade in another state to register.

New elementary school students, pre-school through grade five, should register at their assigned schools. Elementary counselors will return on Aug. 6. No appointment necessary.

New middle school students, grades 6-8, and high school students, grades 9-10, should contact their schools beginning July 28 to schedule registration appointments. Appointments for middle school students will be scheduled August 6, 7 and 10, high school appointments will be scheduled August 3 -5 during the hours of  9 a.m. to noon and 1 -3 p.m. Middle school counselors will return August 3, high school counselors return July 27.
