Chef and Director of the Lavon Economic Development Corporation, Charles Allen, invites those interested in history to attend the second annual 4th of July Breakfast at 9 a.m at the pavilion in LakeView Cemetery, located off of State Highway 78 in Lavon at FM 6. The breakfast event brings history alive when guests have the opportunity to visit the final resting place of Revolutionary War soldier Capt. John Abston who was laid to rest in 1856. Last year, history buffs and residents interested in enjoying the great morning breeze gathered to recognize those who sacrificed for our nation’s independence. Come and enjoy the morning, bring a chair and cool water. Breakfast is on the house. If guests have a cannon available to provide the proper military salute, bring the cannon to the cemetery. The Lavon John Abston Committee is searching for an appropriate cannon salute for the day. For more information, contact [email protected].
